How do you shake up your yoga routine?
Is it vital to join a yoga studio and/or have an instructor, or is there a do-it-yourself way with the basic poses? I was thinking something like a yoga deck of cards (is there such a thing?), where I could shuffle the poses to get a different workout every time. I have a bunch of videos, but they’re tedious after a while. If joining a class is the best way, please be honest! Thanks!
I teach yoga, and also used the videos, dvd’s too. There is something about a class that just makes things more fun. My class all know each other now, and whenever someone new comes in they all speak to them and get to know them. I’d say classes will perk up your routine. You’ll meet people, get out of the house, and have a real live teacher! It makes a real difference! Be sure to ask about the level of difficulty before going in, and most of all have fun!

why do you know about yoga ?
I have this dance project due soon.
And i want to do the most basic yoga?
what is the most basic yoga .. and how does yoga make you feel .. ?
Yoga is amazing. I do at least a little every day.
A simple, well-rounded asana (routine) that’s good for beginners would be a Salutation to the Sun.
Here a link:

The animation goes much faster than you would do this in real life. You alternate your breathing so that when your shoulders & head are up/back, you’re breathing in, filling your lungs, and when your bending over/leaning down you’re breathing out. Try to keep your breathing even and your airways open.
Alternatively, you can hold each part of the asana for up to 30 seconds. I do it that way after cardio and it works great for a quick, full-body stretch.
