Restoring Fertility Yoga DVD

Restoring Fertility is a project to help couples help themselves.

The inspiration for this project has been our patients. Through years of working with thousands of subfertile couples, we found there were many commonalities. While it can be crucial to identify the unique causes of each couple’s infertility, some of the most important elements to actually restoring fertility relate to exercise, diet, environment and lifestyle.

However, its not just any type of exercise, diet, environment and lifestyle. They have to be appropriate for the goals of fertility. Many well meaning patients have “healthy” lifestyles that are actually contributing to their infertility. For example, many types of exercise can throw your hormones off and make it very difficult to get pregnant and to have a healthy pregnancy. However, if exercise is done right, it can be a very powerful tool. This is why our first project was to provide a Yoga set to facilitate reproduction.

Consider this:

Our bodies have an intrinsic ability to deal with environmental stressors such as “bad” diets, pollution and emotional stress. Exercise can help to optimize liver function by assisting with all phases of detoxification. It can also improve digestive function and reduce stress. The problem again is that certain types of exercise can cause reproductive problems.

The four yoga sets contained in the DVDs were created specifically to optimize reproductive function. However, they also have poses to improve tolerance to environmental and dietary factors as well.

Although we designed these sets to optimize your reproductive system, they cannot address everyone’s unique clinical picture. Therefore, they should be viewed as a very powerful adjunct to medical care and not a substitute. We have found that the key to success, even in very difficult cases, is to take a holistic approach. This means to work with both “Eastern” and “Western” reproductive medicine specialists.

With the above caveats, you should find that with diligent practice, you will notice tangible results in how you feel. If you are working with ART (assisted reproduction such as IVF or IUI), you will begin to see your response improving and many of the fertility markers will improve (do not do these sets during an IVF cycle or any type of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation unless your doctor advises otherwise). If you are trying to conceive naturally, you should notice your cervical mucous changing, your libido should also improve and PMS symptoms will be reduced. Regardless of the path you choose, the ultimate purpose of this DVD is to help you achieve your goals of parenthood. These sets were created by doctors who are both fertility specialists and yoga practitioners and are recommended by many well respected doctors in the field.

hi, iam a yoga beginner and i need to know what yoga postures help to reduce weight?

i would like to know also your yoga routine and repetitions numbers. please help

I’ve read in magazines and online that while yoga is relaxing, it doesn’t help you lose much weight. Believe me, I’ve already tried! However, pilates works immensely! Well, it works if you do it often, which I don’t. But, you really do get great results when you do! Good luck!

Where to start yoga?

I wanna get into yoga, but don’t know where to start. What’s a good website explaining all the basics and stuff?

You may enjoy the free online classes at http://www.yogatoday.com/.
There are video-classes for beginners, advanced, and "all levels".

A couple books I would recommend are:
"Sivananda Beginner’s guide to yoga" (Amazon, new: $14.36; used: $9.59 http://www.amazon.com/Sivananda-Beginners-Guide-Yoga-Centre/dp/1856752607/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218725096&sr=8-5)

"B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health"
(Amazon, new hardcover $24.00 http://www.amazon.com/B-K-S-Iyengar-Yoga-Holistic-Health/dp/0756633621/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219073645&sr=1-1)

A dvd with high quality info & instruction I recommend is "Yoga Shakti with Shiva Rea"
(Amazon $17.50 http://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Shakti-with-Shiva-Rea/dp/1591791847/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219073837&sr=1-2 )

how do i bend my knees to do the child pose in yoga?

okay, i am a guy trying out yoga through a few internet instructional guides, and one "beginner" stretch is called the child pose which requires you to sit on your heels. is there some type of training i should do to be able to bend my knees that far? is this stretch even possible for males?
the pose itself is easy, but i am unable to bend my knees all the way to make my buttocks rest on my heels. it would be best to add that my physical build is very skinny/boney, my knees feel like they are resisting when i try to bend them that far.

You mean this?

I don’t see how that’s hard, I can do it, actually I’m surprised someone wouldn’t be able to do it.

Which yoga for weight loss helps to reduce weight?

I like to do yoga exercises but i do not have knowledge which yoga exercises reduce weight and make body fit and comfort.

There are numbers of yoga poses are available to reduce weight out of them two are common and effective to reduce weight they are bhujangasana and chakrasana. Do we cut too much slack to baseball players being too old?

I’m following Ken Griffey Jr. and his return to Seattle. Born in Nov of 1969, he is now 39 and a half years old. No longer "the Kid" by any means, but truth be told, he’s not that old. Well, until we start talking about baseball players. Look, I understand as you get older your hand eye coordination slows and we can’t expect him to hit as well. But the way the papers and news pendents talk, you think this guy was about ready to collect social security. From ESPN.com I just read an article that said the manager sat Griffey out the day game (having played the night before), "probably a wise choice due to his age."

Does anybody think we’re cutting baseball players too much slack? Shouldn’t we expect more from their fitness levels. Haile Gebrselassie currently holds the world record in the marathon and will make an attempt to break it once again shortly. He’s just 3 and a half years younger than Griffey. He’s running over 100 miles a week. And his marathon time? Well, he runs around a 4:44 mile split;I couldn’t even do that in HS after 4 years of track (granted, I wasn’t the most gifted of athletes).

OK, Griffey may have had his injuries but in speaks to the larger point: these guys are going out and pulling hamstring muscles and having groin pulls all the time. 35? That’s not old–that’s when long distance runners hit their peak. Is there some internal culture where the baseball managers don’t push their althletes to stay in shape in the off-season. I mean, run at least 3 miles each day (and that’s not much folks), windsprints and yoga to stay limber. Or are these guys just showing up to Spring Training completely out of shape and hoping they’ll get a good workout running around the bases a few times and doing a few sprints on the field 2 hours prior to the game. Is it just me, or does it seem like we set the bar too low for these guys? Love to hear your thoughts on this…I could be completely out in left field here.

Long distance running and baseball are not the same. 39 is very old. Generally, the peak for baseball players is before 30.

EDIT: Captain Hawk, Griffey has returned to Seattle.

EDIT2:Baseball players are in better shape than they ever were, and improvements in medical treatment have allowed careers to be extended. And they exercise, hard. And for many, year-round. But baseball also has a lot more high-stress (though short-term) activities than long distance running does.
